5 weekend self-care tips to revive yourself for a busy week

We hustle the entire week and juggle between responsibilities from work to family. That leaves us with little to no time for ourselves. A pressing day can be heavily taxing for our mental, physical and emotional health. If your weekdays are stressful and demanding, your weekends must be filled with time for self-care to revive yourself for the coming week. Weekends are just the perfect time to practice some self-care, especially your favourite: resting. After a never-ending week of meeting deadlines and running errands, use the weekend time to focus on feeling better. So, let’s tell you some weekend self-care tips!

Health Shots got in touch with clinical psychologist, Dr Kamna Chhibber, to get to know some ideas to practise self care.

Well, you might be a party person, but just for your sanity and to grab some rest, you can ditch that party, and maybe pull an all-nighter to finish the last pages of your favourite book or just cocoon under your cosy blanket to just watch an OTT show or movie. Do anything, but make sure your weekends are filled with positive energy to help you get back your sane mind and body.

Wondering how to indulge in self care? Here are some self-care tips from the expert to make sure that your weekends are filled with nothing but love, care and rest.

1. Rest, rest, and rest

While hard weekdays and stacked-up responsibilities leave us no time to get adequate rest, weekends should be reserved for giving time to your body to relax and rejuvenate. “Get enough rest,” says the expert. One of the best things about the weekend is the luxury of free time it offers to nap. While sleeping, our bodies heal and improve. An exerted body will always be in a state of restlessness, while if you give it time to sleep and rest, you will naturally function better in the coming week.

2. Indulge in activities that you enjoy

Weekdays are filled with a never-ending stack of work and family responsibilities, weekends should be filled with time for activities that you enjoy. There are times when we stop indulging in our favourite pastimes due to the paucity of time during the week. Get your spark ignited back again, and practice some self-love by indulging in creative yet relaxing activities. It could be anything, reading a book, doodling, painting, yoga/meditation, or a walk in nature, to name a few.

3. Don’t forget to give time to your loved ones

“Take out some quality time to spend with your family and friends,” suggests the expert. In a chaotic and occupied life, we forget to give time and love to our loved ones. Make the most of this free weekend time to laugh and merry around with your dear ones and create good memories with them.

4. Slow down

During the weekdays, we are constantly struggling to keep up with the pace of our fast lives. Every single day passes within a jiffy, and within a blink of an eye, you reach the weekend. “Slow down the pace at which you are doing things over the weekend,” says the expert.
